The Editors

Two Writers,
one bad habit.

Beyond Noise is run by two people who kept turning up at the same gigs and eventually decided to write it all down. No advertisers, no algorithm, no favours owed.

James

Founding Editor / Edit Guru

DJ and Cat Dad James has spent the last 14 years practicing and showcasing his craft of DJ'ing the highest quality edits in the land. He's the kind of crate-digger who treats a living room of two people like a festival mainstage and will rearrange a disco classic into a punk montage before the cat finishes its bowl. His studio is a shrine of warped vinyl, broken needles, and one judgmental feline who hates every transition.

Carla

Editor / Wife / Photographer

Carla is a cat-mum first, photographer second, and professional tea-drinker third. Give her a 35mm camera, a cuppa that's still too hot to hold, and a gig with a basement that barely fits fifty people, and she's home. She'll scale a speaker stack for the shot, apologise to the cat for coming home late, and then stay up until 3am developing film by the glow of the kettle's ready light.

Biscuit & Crumb.

The four-legged half of the editorial team. Chief morale officers, professional keyboard-sitters, and the only staff members who never miss a deadline for dinner.

Biscuit

Chief of Attitude

A female ginger Maine Coon with the demeanour of a jaded rock critic and the fur to match. Rarely impressed. Occasionally purrs.

Crumb

Head of Chaos

Biscuit's younger sister. Two-face: half ginger, half tabby, all trouble. The energy levels of a caffeine addict at a matinee gig. Will absolutely knock your pint over.

"More than volume — it's what you hear when the noise finally means something."
